12 Days of Christmas at Mullion Cove Hotel
On the first day of Christmas my true love introduced to me . . .
# 1 Jolly group of fisherman singing in the local pub
Cadgwith singers, some of whom are fishermen, often burst into song spontaneously around 10.30pm on a Friday night, picture kindly donated by Marea Downey.
# 2 Harbours illuminated with Christmas lights and lanterns
# 3 Hot toddies in the Glenbervie Bar keeping out the chill
Grab a seasonal drink at our Glenbervie Bar that serves high-quality malt whiskies including Speyside’s 21 year old Macphail, Havana Club Añejo Especial premium golden rum and a range of fine brandies. Check out Peggotty’s Corner for a bit of inspiration.
# 4 Bags of Cornish food bought at a Christmas market
Stock up on locally produced gifts, watch fantastic cookery demonstrations and bag some delicious artisan fare at the Falmouth Christmas Markets.
# 5 Wintry dog walks along the sands of our amazing beaches
There are some amazing dog walks on the Lizard in Cornwall, some a mere step from our hotel, and they’re particularly peaceful and picturesque in the winter.
# 6 Treks on the inland moors and coast paths of our peninsula
The Lizard Coastal Path is one of the most spectacular stretches of the Cornwall Coast path, reaching from the Helford River in the east down to England’s most southerly point, The Lizard, and then round past Mullion on the west coast to Porthleven
# 7 Christmas presents bought at an artisan craft fair
The Victorian Christmas Fair in Truro has up to 80 exhibitors dressed in wonderful period costumes. An animal pen with rare breed sheep, in-house café, champagne bar and seating area help you enjoy the eclectic mix of food, drink, arts, crafts and high quality gifts.
# 8 Hymns sung by carol singers at a Christmas Service
Join the staff at Pendennis Castle, Falmouth, for Christmas carols in the keep.
# A 9°c Christmas Day sea swim (or support a Santa Fun Run!)
Brave a Christmas Day Swim at Gwithian near Hayle, Land’s End, Padstow or Falmouth, all funds raised help support Cornwall Hospice Care.
# 10 circuits of the outdoor ice-rinks at St Austell and Truro
sung by Cornish choirs. Or enjoy some Open Air Ice Skating in Truro on the Central Green behind the Cathedral.
# 11 Strolling bands and traditional Cornish dances
Celebrate Christmas the Cornish way at Nadelik, Pendennis Castle in Falmouth which embraces the best traditions and trimmings from Christmas past with mince pies and mulled wine. Or try the Montol Festival in Penzance, a six-day arts and community festival based on the Cornish Christmas and Midwinter traditions, culminating in Montol Eve on the 21st of December.
# 12 Strikes of the clock for Midnight Mass
