Fishing Villages & Harbours on the Lizard Peninsula

The Lizard Peninsula is home to some of the most authentic and picturesque fishing harbours in Cornwall famous for Pilchard Fishing and Smuggling. Today these fishing villages provide wonderful places to relax and spend some time visiting local galleries, shops, tea rooms and harbour side pubs. All are within a short drive of Mullion Cove Hotel and can be visited by car or on foot via the coastal path.

Situated beneath Mullion Cove Hotel, Mullion Harbour is for many the ‘jewel in the crown’ of fishing harbours on the Lizard Peninsula with it’s timeless tranquillity and authenticity providing the perfect little Cornish fishing harbour now owned by the National Trust.

Cadgwith
One of the most picturesque working fishing villages on the Lizard Peninsula where thatched cob cottages spill down the steep hillside to the harbour. The original Huer’s Hut and old fisherman’s chapel can still to be seen on the cliff edge.

Coverack
Nestled within the protective arms of the granite harbour walls Coverack still retains so much authenticity as a historic fishing village with its back streets and lanes all leading to its harbour of colourful lobster pots and wooden fishing boats.

Porthleven
Situated adjacent to the famous Loe Pool Porthleven is one of the largest fishing villages on the Lizard Peninsula with its very distinctive harbour and tall clock tower. As a thriving community Porthleven offers an interesting place to visit with its Gift shops, galleries, restaurants and friendly pubs nestled amongst local fishmongers, boat builders and chandlers.
