Mullion Cove Hotel are delighted to host a new programme of 5 night Cornwall Painting Breaks during 2009 organised by the accomplished and very well known Devon landscape and seascape artist – Ray Balkwill.

Price includes: Personal daily tuition of Ray Balkwill, evening presentations and discussions, welcome drinks reception, dinner bed and breakfast for 5 nights in a twin or double room based on two people sharing, VAT @ 17.5%.

Price does not include: Transport to Painting Venues on the Lizard chosen by Ray Balkwill as subjects to paint en plein air. Guests are required to arrange their own transport in their own vehicles please, with car share on location a popular option.

Course Information - Paint Seascapes, Estuaries and Harbours – Host: Ray Balkwill
Each course will comprise five nights DB&B and four full days of painting. Tuition iis on a personal level with students being helped to progress in their chosen medium. The course will also include demonstrations, talks and critiques. These are practical painting courses in which students will be encouraged to sketch and paint on location as much as possible. Set in a stunning position on the coast, the Mullion Cove Hotel offers a variety of exciting painting locations nearby. These will include Mullion Cove, Cadgwith, Kynance Cove, Porthleven and the creeks around the Helford Estuary. Courses start on the Sunday evening at 6.30 with a welcome drinks reception and students depart after breakfast on the Friday. Students will need to bring their own painting materials, further details about the course as well as what to bring will be sent out nearer to the course date. Please note: The courses are not suitable for beginners. Non-painting partners are most welcome.

More about your Painting Holiday Tutor – Ray Balkwill SWac Ray Balkwill, SWAc is a well-known West Country artist who paints marine subjects and landscapes in watercolours, pastels and oils. He is a popular teacher and has been running painting courses for over seventeen years. He is author of four books as well as being a regular contributor to ‘The Artist’ Magazine. In 2004 APV Films made a film about him entitled ‘Capturing Estuary Moods.’ He is a member of the St Ives Society of Artists and in 2006 he was elected an academician in the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts. He is a strong advocate of painting en plein air and his main objective is to try and capture the mood and ‘spirit’ of a place.
