Truro Festival 29th March – 14th April 2013
Truro’s annual festival celebrates the diversity of the arts within the city which incorporates art, music, theatre, film, literature and Cornish culture through a fantastic array of events. Search their eclectic programme for galleries, local artists, auction dates and exhibitions of interest.
Porthleven Food Festival 20th April 2013
This year the festival focuses on produce ‘Sourced from the Sea’ where you can sample local fishermen’s catches including crab and lobster. Chef demonstrations include Jack Stein (Seafood Restaurant), Andy Appleton (Fifteen Cornwall) and celebrity chef, Antony Worrell-Thompson.
Padstow May Day Festival (‘Obby ‘Oss Day) 1st May 2013
May Day is the biggest celebration in Padstow’s calendar where locals decorate the town with flags and flowers to dance and welcome the summer. Join the musical procession where two ‘Osses’ dance through streets taunted by a Teazer, to the sound of musicians and drummers!
Helston Flora Day 8th May 2013
Flora Day is an ancient spring festival that ushers in a prosperous harvest. The town is decorated with bluebells, gorse and laurel leaves where you can enjoy highly decorative floral street dances and outdoor theatre performances. Get there early to make the most of your day.
Fowey Festival of Words & Music 8th – 18th May 2013
Join this intimate gathering where novelists bring their works to life, TV presenters share their adventures and experiences, politicians talk about life at Westminster and famous comedians provide lots of laughter; including, Monty Halls, Adam Hart-Davis, Fern Britton and Ken Livingstone.
St Ives Food & Drink Festival 18th & 19th May 2013
Join some of Cornwall’s finest food and drink producers for fascinating talks, food tastings and to buy local produce. There are food foraging walks to explore, an Oyster and Champagne event, live music, and an opportunity to go fishing off St Ives and take part in a live cooking demonstration.
Fal River Festival 24th May – 2nd June 2013
This fantastic festival includes over 150 events ranging from music and drama, arts and heritage to gig racing, swimming and wildlife walks. Enjoy jazz bands playing on the harbour, film screenings on ferries moored offshore or watch celebrity chefs demonstrating seafood recipes.
