Spring Breaks in Cornwall: What's on for 2018
01 March 2018
With spring finally on the horizon, it’s time to start making plans for the brighter days of March and April. Whether you’re looking for excellent food and drink, arts and entertainment, or pure escapism, West Cornwall is just the place for the Easter Holidays and beyond! Here’s our guide to what’s on in in the coming weeks.
Spring Walks and Cornish Gardens in Bloom
After a cold, blustery winter, it’s always a joy to see the coast and countryside regain their cheer. Spots such as the Helford River and Goonhilly Downs spring back into life with wildflowers galore across West Cornwall’s beautiful Lizard Peninsula at this time of year. Longer, milder days allow more hours to explore, not to mention more encouraging weather. Our walks page has several suitable walking routes and links to get you started: https://www.mullion-cove.co.uk/leisure/walks
For those who like to mix a little culture and more exotic beauty into proceedings, there are also some wonderfully elegant gardens to visit in West Cornwall, which reopen their gates in the spring. Bonython Estate is always lovely from Easter into April and May, with lakes and beautiful blossoming plants to enjoy. A little further north, you also have Trebah Garden, with its tropical plants and pretty trails to explore.
2018 Spring and Easter Events in West Cornwall
Whether you’re looking for Easter family fun, or something more geared towards grownups, there are several interesting events going on over March and April this year.
The 2018 Falmouth Spring Festival (22nd March to 2nd April) is probably the most varied option of the lot, and will appeal to all tastes. Goings on include various colourful local talks and demonstrations, including live science experiments, street food, craft ciders and live folk music, guided walks and more. Take a look at the festival lineup here: https://www.falmouth.co.uk/falmouth-events/falmouth-spring-festival/
For those visiting with the kids or meeting up with younger family members, National Trust Godolphin, has various events on throughout the spring months.
